B.T. Bones Steakhouse and SIX

By Georgia Beck

Recently, I had the opportunity to see SIX. I was really looking forward to the evening because it had been a while since I had seen them and I had never been to Mickey Gilley's Theater. I found the theatre itself very nice and was pleasantly surprised at the comfort of the seats.

In case you don't know, SIX consists of six brothers that sing a capella. They have unique sounds and harmony that will blow your mind. Their songs span many generations and genres, all with magnificent style. Since I come from Southern California I have to say my favorites were the Beach Boy selections. Don't worry though, no matter what your favorite era is, you will hear songs you will want to sing along with. Amongst the harmony there is underlying comedy that you can't help but enjoy. I found myself laughing out loud several times throughout the evening.

During the second half of the show things get a bit more serious. The gospel selections are sung with angelic voices that calm your soul....absolutely beautiful!! You can't help but be touched by the song that is a tribute to their mother. Very nice. Then, as in true Branson style, they honor our military and sing God Bless the USA. The song as well as the beautiful eagle in the background will bring tears to your eyes. Magnificent!!!

Before the show I went to BT Bones for dinner. They have been in town for around 20 years but it was the first time I had eaten there. Believe me, it will not be the last!!! I started off with onion rings that were to die for. They are hand done there and have a spicy kick that makes them a notch above others. For my entree I chose prime rib. I ordered it medium rare ~ it was perfect!! Unfortunately, since I ate the onion rings and prime rib dinner, I had no room for their blackberry cobbler. That will be a must the next time I visit them.

Besides everything being delicious (and most items cooked from scratch) the service was amazing. Everyone was very friendly and eager to make the meal memorable.

It was truly an enjoyable evening. Hopefully, soon you can go see this very enjoyable show. Also, I highly suggest making it a point to go to BT Bones so you can enjoy some of their delicious food. I'm sure neither one will disappoint you!!!
